Why rent an e-bike in Japan?

Traveling by train across Japan can be thrilling, especially when riding the shinkansen Japan is famous for. But the way of life in Japan is based on finding balance, and slow, immersive, travel is just as important. For those looking to stop when and wherever they want, for those who want to know what lies beyond the bus and train lines, e-biking offers a sustainable way to see more of the country than just walking would allow, yet with the freedom to stop when the moment calls. And since these bikes are electric assisted, each day begins just as refreshed and relaxed as the previous.

Why e-biking around Kyoto by the Sea?

Kyoto by the Sea has spent two years developing a deep, comprehensive e-bike network throughout the region. And since Kyoto by the Sea is diverse area, both naturally and socially, as well as home to the first ancient kingdom of Japan, traveling through the area offers visitors the best of what the cities don’t. Via e-bike in Kyoto by the Sea, visitors can pass through former castle towns with their remnant historic buildings, the current castle town of Fukuchiyama Castle, farm stay villages in the forests of Ayabe, the historic naval city of Maizuru, the iconic Amanohashidate land bridge with seas on both sides, the dynamic Tango Peninsula with its volcanic coastline and cliffside seaswept road, and the UNESCO Sanin Geopark coastline complete with terraced rice fields on the sea and a beach of singing sand.

How to tour the area?

E-bikes can be rented ad-hoc, or as a tour, both self-guided or with a guide. The cycling routes have been marked with cycling markers so riders know where to go. But to get the most out of the visit, traveling through this geologically and historically rich area with a guide is the way to go. Meet locals out fishing or working their farms and roadside stands.
