A menu full of local fish that overlooks the beautiful Amanohashidate land bridge
Take a cable car or lift from the foot of Kasamatsu to the top where Kasamatsu Park is, and you will find Ama Terrace. This park is located on the far side of Amanohashidate (not the train station side) and Ama Terrace occupies the second floor of the only building at the top. The building has a souvenir shop, ice cream, and coffee. From the restaurant’s bay windows you can see Amanohashidate from hundreds of meters up. The restaurant serves a menu featuring fish of outstanding freshness that are brought in from a local fishing port. "We want customers from other prefectures to taste the specialties of Amanohashidate," says the chef, and they are working to create a lineup that highlights the regional cuisine that make this area distinct. Also check out the seasonal original menu, such as iced tea made with Miyano Yura olives and sweets decorated with umbrellas (“kasa” means umbrella in Japanese), a signature of Kasamatsu Park.
[Ama Terrace] was developed by Tango Kairoku Kogyo Co., Ltd., which operates sightseeing buses, cables and sightseeing boats. We are promoting tourism that is rooted in the Tango area centered around Amanohashidate, and are making every effort to offer superb hospitality. In addition to the restaurant, there is “Ama Cafe” out front with the sign showing the sale of Kasamatsu dango (dumpling dessert) and Kyotamba Highlands pork sausage, and a shop that sells a colleciton of selected specialty products. Go local by trying some of Tango's masterpieces, it’s not just limited to seafood!
Today's Select Seafood Bowl
Leave yourself in the hands of fish professionals. A local fish shop selects and delivers the finest ingredients and they all converge in this seafood bowl. On this day the picture was taken, some of the local selections are akamoku, octopus, sea bream, and yellowtail (often the larger more expensive yellowtail). 1,667 yen
Amanohashidate Sardine Rice Bowl
The best way to have seafood is with a panoramic view of the sea. And this seafood is caught right down below in Miyazu Bay, which you can see from the windows. High-quality Koshihikari rice from Tango also used but the toppings are so voluminous that you can't see it! 926 yen
Sardines in Olive Oil Pasta
Pasta with Amanohashidate's specialty, Takenaka Brand canned oil sardines are the main feature. You can also buy sardines and other preserved seafood at the shop. 926 yen
