Hybrid cafe and luxurious European seafood cuisine made with local ingredients

A cafe-style restaurant that uses locally-produced ingredients for almost everything, and consequently provides insight into all of Miyazu’s new gourmet foods. The restaurant uses seafood that is caught as close to the restaurant as possible so the freshness is unmistakable. During lunch, pasta and paella are mainly served, and at night, there is also an alcohol menu. Actually, this restaurant serves sake from ten local brewers in the Tango area. You can order daily flights (from 840 yen), sure to quench the interest of all sake lovers. And if you like what you’ve tried, you can buy a bottle next door. HAMAKAZE CAFE also serves local desserts such as Amanohashidate cheesecake (420 yen) and matsubokkuri cream puffs (270 yen) that show the iconic view of Amanohashidate as viewed from between your legs on the label. The daily set meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays also use a variety of local ingredients.

from the chef:

I worked at an Italian restaurant and local bar, both here and in Mineyama (Kyotango). At HAMAKAZE CAFE, the local seafood is used to create an eclectic mix of Japanese and Western cuisines, conjuring images of Italy, Spain, Japan and even China. To tell the truth, I love alcohol. The special “blackboard menu” that we have at night includes dishes like pickled squid, mackerel, and others, which are best when combined with local sake. We are enthusiastically working on local collaborations such as cooking using shark purchased from Kyoto Prefecture’s Ocean High School, and interesting ramen based on students’ ideas.
