Heritage Arts
Weavers here produce 70 % of all Japan’s high quality silk, work with world fashion giants like Paris Fashion Week and even Hollywood movies. A paper-making village started 800 years ago with a ronin samurai, and another paper-making company produces the thinnest paper in Japan. Plus this is the only area in Japan where wisteria weaving has continued for thousands of years, when the art was all but lost in Japan.

Kyoto by the Sea has some of Japan’s most beautiful beaches. The Japanese Sea is known for it’s clean waters, sandy beaches and steady surf. And much of this region is part of UNESCO’s Sanin Kaigan Global Geopark, with rare geological features, volcanic rock, quartz laden shores and fresh, crisp air.
