Located near Fukuchiyama Castle, this restaurant is recommended for those who want seasonal flavors plated stylishly. Minato focuses on using ingredients from Fukuchiyama. The lunch menu is a great example of this as it has a variety of delicate flavors and beautifully arranged dishes that express seasonality. You can choose from a Japanese set meal of 1,200 yen that changes daily, or a rich “omakase” feast for 2,900 yen. It all depends on your appetite and budget. The Mitsuhide/Kikyozen meal for 2,500 yen is named after the Taiga drama television series. It’s a hot pot lunch that uses boar meat from Fukuchiyama. The owners have paid special attention to the decor as well. The modern Japanese space is comfortable, and creates a warm impression, plus there are window views of the garden.

There has been a steady stream of western-style restuarants in Fukuchiyama since my grandparent’s time. My grandfather, my father, my nephew, and I, all grew up around cooks, so it was only natural that I end up here. I think it’s important to cook with your heart and respect the seasonality of ingredients. Above all, I'm glad to see customers coming back time and time again. Our menu has a variety of items, but the Fukuchiyama-style rice with miso that was made using moso bamboo from the Hoonji Temple district, and the special raw tofu rice bowl, both represent the flavors of Fukuchiyama. Please give them a try.
