Where the Maizuru community gathers to eat and drink

Sabel is a cozy dining establishment in the shopping district [Sun Mall Manai] located in the center of Nishi-Maizuru. The owner, Ryuji Tomonari, has a friendly personality and is a familiar face to anyone in the area. They have a wide range of dishes, from plates that go well with sake, to side dishes that pair with rice. There is even a photo gallery wall and album-style book that shows regular customers of the restaurant across all ages. There is a delightful range of cocktails as well, and some originals include the "Minato Maizuru Highball" and "Red Brick Highball" (480 each). There is also the "Maizuru Maritime Self-Defense Force Curry" that is helping to encourage local tourism.

from the chef:

I started this restaurant because I longed for the atmosphere of restuarants I went to in Nozawa Onsen where I lived when I was in my twenties. I created a salon-style establishment where locals get together at night, chat and drink. And of course I wanted to include delicious food. This area of the shopping district has many events and it’s easy for people to get together here. 90% of the customers are locals, and it is lively every night. I feel like I'm getting closer to my goal little by little. If you come, you can get live info. on local Maizuru!
